These guys are too fun to photograph. Here's a Greater Yellowlegs that was wading deeper in the water than the other species of shorebirds, which meant I was lying flat in deeper water than usual to get the low angle and proximity to the subject I needed to properly frame it as you see here.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld while prone in the water, full-frame, usual eye-work including removing a second (lower) catchlight.

Beautiful Dan! Love the BG graduated colour. Looks like the 1.4TC doesn't degrade the IQ. How close were you to this bird?

That is some nice water and awesome colorful BG...
The bird has a bit of a magenta caste on my monitor.

Nailed another one! Just beautiful. I don't get any magenta in the bird. I reckon Artie might be onto you for about 0.9 deg CW rotation though.

Such a sweet angle on this guy, Daniel. I love the blurred water and pastel color palette; it makes for a really beautiful shot. There bit is in perfect focus, but I think you've lost a bit of detail to noise at ISO 1600 on that body. The blurred left leg is a small thing that I notice as well; I'm a real stickler for leg detail in my shorebird shots. All together a very nice frame.

Just about perfect for me Dan, the way the water melts into that beautiful BG is superb. Yes to a slight cast on the bird, but given the techs I suspect this will be fairly accurate to the light at the time of shooting

The background makes this one. Wonderful colors. Low angle is right on. Very nice.

A Beauty.........this is the sort of frame that would look spectacular printed and hung on a wall. Love the colours throughout.

What a beautiful frame. The low angle makes for a terrific background. I like the soft horizon transition.
