Fun times lying in the mud and shallow water. We're right smack-dab in the middle of my favorite time of year for bird photography...fall shorebird migration! Here's a fun one created a couple of weeks ago of a juvenile Least Sandpiper finishing off a post-preen shake. I usually have a tough time liking "shake" poses, but this one passed the test :S3:

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/8, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, about 80% FF, a few small spots removed from the water but otherwise quite a clean setting. NR to the reflections.

Image looks nice. I like the colors in the background.

I guess face could use some sharpening. Looking at the frame I would have gone for a pano crop by taking some canvas at the bottom.

Another from the master of uncomfortable photography! Love the juxtaposition of the bird and reeds and the overall smooth colors. A pity that the eyes are nearly invisible.

Lovely bird and soft light. Bummer that the grasses were so ratty. It needs a bit of CCW rotation ...

ps: using the Ruler Tool and. Image > Rotate > Arbitrary.

Lovely habitat and determined little sandpiper. I wouldn't want your cleaning bill.

Lovely looking frame and very pleasing to the eye. I like your chosen crop and the POV perfect as usual

Very nice. Really like how the grasses balance this frame. Love the water. Nice pose on the bird as well.

Excellent minimalism. Nice colour and light.
