This beautiful juvenile Least Sandpiper was making its way closer and closer, so I stopped down the aperture in anticipation of creating tight close up portraits with enough DOF. Just as it got into wanted range, and that I was about to trip the shutter, the sandpiper began bathing from point-blank range. How cool! I created quite a few images in the hopes one or more would come out well...this one did and is my favorite of the series. Now, I did miss the after-bath wing flap and jump from that close of a distance!:t3

Great close portrait, Daniel. Appreciate the effort you put into preparing as he got closer. Love the low POV, and the ribbons of water on the back and from the beak. Good background also.

Very nice.
I like the low POV and love the water running down the birds back.
IQ excellent.
The water wavelets in front of the bird are pretty cool.
Excellent BG, nice light!

This is amazing Daniel! Love the water on the bird's back. The blue water and the orange BG go really well together. Very nice detail and light. Great job!

The detail and water combine to make this a winner. Would not have been possible without the effort to get low! Two-toned BG is nice as well.

The giant drops and the wavelets are fabulous. How close were you to the MFD?

Thanks!

Artie, I was right at MFD...I had to crawl back a bit to get accurate focus.
