This is taken at 7 am yesterday in overcast...
The BG is what it is at my pond, some don't like I know, but it is what it is,
a small lake/pond with forest surrounding 3 sides and a golf course on the other.
This is why a lot of my photos are iso6400.....

D500, 500mm (500pf), 1/2000, f5.6, iso6400

Regarding my brief 500 pf review, I do like it, it is amazing how small and light it is.
It does seem that some shots are not as sharp as I am use to with the 300 f2.8 and I
have to shoot a half stop higher which for me means higher iso at already
low light conditions.
The lens should shine in better light when I get some.

Great natural history shot but it is a bit hard to look at, as the duck is still alive.
Nice and sharp. Too bad that lighter colored tree trunk is in the BG but not a deal breaker.

An amazing scene! Was the mother duck going crazy? You could tone down that tree trunk, but overall it is a rather mesmerizing image. I actually find it pretty cool (in a natural history kind of way) that the duckling is still alive.

What an amazing capture, I suppose it is perfectly logical for the eagle to take a duckling but I have never seen such a shot. I think you have done a good job on the processing, and I think it looks good as presented......... if you wanted to make the eagle stand out a little more you could easily mask it, and lower Contrast and Structure of the background with Viveza.

Excellent capture, the details on the eagle look really good.

If you shoot with the 500 and an extender you definitely have some issues with depth of field. Lowest you can get is F8 with a 1.4. But I would think shooting without will give you better image quality and this 500 at F5 .6 will really shine in the clear skies. Give it some time. Nice image by the way.

My favorite of your pond eagle images. I have only ever seen eagles with dead ducks so this is pretty neat. Composition is right on like the pose as well.

This is so cool! The ducking makes this totally unique! I don't mind the BG, and the exposure and detail on the subject loosk good. If anything, I think you might be able to brighten the entire scene a bit. That might help he eagle stand out from the BG a bit better. I actually really like the light patches behind.

This is very cool eagle with not a usual prey. you did well. if IQ hold I'd crop it tighter. man I am telling you if you are shooting ISO 6400 all the time you need a D5 :) you are getting some really cool frames lately
