Lovely shot John, I would suggest curves withe luminosity and bring down the highlights just a fraction, it makes quite a big difference in my opinion.

Nice low angle here, and good details. I'd be OK with darkening the blacks a wee bit more, and I would give the image some CCW rotation. I like that the bill is slightly open and that it is not too saturated (which is easy with to do with these guys!).

Nice low POV. I would add a point of blacks to the blacks in selective coloring because I find the image needs a "boost".
I would clone out the dark circles in the water by the legs because they pull my eye away from the OC.

Hey John, glad to see so many shorebirds for you. I need to catch up! I'd darken the blacks and counter clockwise a tad. Very nice, love the open beak
