A little late for the June Theme. Taken in March, Costa Rica, overcast, jungle canopy
iso 1250, 500PF, F8, 1000th, D500, fill flash at -3, handheld, 75% full frame

I would turn down the highlights a tad (probably from flash) and work on the eye a bit to darken the pupil, but this is striking....
Nice Costa Rica perch and BG.

Very flashy bird, good pose and BG. Black, reds and white would have to be the hardest combo to get balanced. There is a patch in the red that looks a bit burnt (gone orange).

Very nice pose the bird gave you. The top of the bill looks pretty cooked. Background is nice though.

A great bird to see IRL!
I find the bird a bit tight in the frame and would loosen the crop.
Agree about the upper beak being hot.
I see a lot of purple in the blacks and would address that in PP.

Hey Moe/David,
Thanks for sending the RAW. I did a simple conversion in Capture One then lots of feather clean-up and Eye Doctor work. NIK 30-30 and a Contrast Mask on the head. And lots more ...
