A female Eider I captured from the shore in my hometown...At this time of the year, these females are swimming around with lots of chicks, and other females, in a 'creche' to look after their young. During nesting, they remain on the nest for approx 6 weeks, and never leave nor feed.. They get no help from the males who are presently moulting.

I hope you're secretly proud of yourself for this one Will! Definitely one of your best - superb pose and light and you've nailed the tech side. Having her ride the wave adds so much to the shot

Nice sharp shot of this lady, William. Lighting looks good, sit-flap offers nice action, and the mostly smooth sea isolates the subject nicely. Frame might have a slight pink cast, but I've been away from my computer for 18 days; my eyes might need recalibration!

A real beauty, Will. Gorgeous light, great wing flap while she's riding the wavelet.

Wonderful image William,

So well framed, nice image design. Pose is superb - love the head angle!

Colours look natural and detail on the subject is great. I am really enjoying your posts here in Avian - thank you so much for sharing!

Great wing flap. Really like how the bird is about to crest that wave. Composition is spot on. Light on the bird looks nice as well.

Rich and warm light looks good. It is off angle, but hitting the right places. Good low angle, and I like the raised head.

Hey Gabriela...Thanks for coming over from the Wild Side ....And a big thanks for your comments, it means so much. I have a few Seal images so I will be on the Wild life soon :S3: I also have a few sequences captured, so hopefully get round to processing them, for the Story Sequences.

Hi Dan, thanks for that. What is it you mean when you say 'off angle, but hitting the right places'

Love, love the light.
Female eiders are so often overlooked but they are so pretty.
Like the wingstretch and the way she is riding the wave!
