On a chilly late overcast afternoon while looking for one of our target birds, I captured this image of a Common Redpoll posing on a pine bough on a rocky cliff overlooking lake Myvatn in Iceland just over a week ago. C&C welcome.

Glad you found em Geoffrey, a very nice high key image. No noise and fine detail. I might remove some debris from the beak...

Very nice Geoffrey...A lovely looking bird and you captured it well. I like the feather detail and HA. Well done.

Thanks Ann. I debated whether to leave it. I thought it looked natural, but maybe not as good as a seed on the beak. Also we discovered a nest which one of the parents was sitting in warming some eggs presumably. I imagine this one was bringing food for the other.

Like the high key treatment. The way the bird is posed on the top pine bough is pretty sweet.

A bit steep, but I like the comp and how it is perched at the very tip of the tree. You could warm it up a touch, and yes I would remove the debris below the bill. A redpoll nest too? How cool that must have been even just to see.
