We just returned from very windy Iceland a couple of days ago. This was our target bird and they didn't let us down. Captured this flight as he was flying back up river below the mouth of Lake Myvatn. They would float down river and frequently dive to dine on the river grasses. C&C welcome.

I really like this one. The bird is sharp and you handled the off light angle well. Also like that you got this beauty entirely against the water BG. It looks like you could have opened up a little but I like the painterly view of the flowers... Only wish for more detail in dark area under wing. TFS

Geoffrey that is a real peach of a shot, love the composition and the tones on the goldeneye look spot on - well done!

Congratulations on getting on your target species! That is always rewarding. These guys a pretty speedy flyers, so good job panning here. I only see goldeneyes (mostly Commons) during the winter, so it is a treat to see one with a spring-summer setting. As posted I do feel the eye looks a bit odd with a jagged contour. Is there some detail to lift under the dark wing?

Nicely done. Conditions were indeed tough. This shows the low-over-the-water typical flight, the nice environment, and some good iridescence. The pano crop works well, or I could imagine a slightly greater crop losing the righthand-most clump of yellow flowers.

Nice sharp bird. If you have the pixels I would go a bit tighter.. I like the environment.

Like this one as presented. The bird is perfect in the frame. Like the yellow flowers in the background.

Thanks Daniel. I did do a bit of eye work, and it's clear nothing escapes you, "The Eye Doc". I should have been more careful and spent a little more time. Yes there is some detail to lift under the darker portion of the wing. Thanks for pointing these observations out.
