I was looking for an improvement in AF, so I passed on the first update 1.1. Last week the second update (1.2) arrived with the smaller focus box for servo AF. The single point focus box was huge previously (must have had 10s or even 100s of those 5000+ focus pixel sites) . I thought this was strange and assumed the software had been rushed for launch. This release brought a smaller option and appears to have greatly reduced (but not eliminate completely) the frequency of the wonkiness where the AF fails but thinks it's in focus. That smaller focus point was right on this sentinel's eye. Looking forward to further improvements. With the advent of mirrorless competition, even old stodgy Canon is providing new features in firmware. The sony A9 (best AF for mirrorless) just received further improvements to it's already stellar AF.

Nice and sharp, with a good low angle to blur out the BG. I like the boxy comp too. If anything, I feel that the image is a tad dark.

Yep, the mirrorless race is heating up!

Brightened up per Daniel's suggestion. This was created in the shade late afternoon. Should have known to brighten a little. As always, thanks for views and suggestions.

Nice enough and I love the head angle. A bit more contrast might improve it.

with love, artie

I like it, colors on the owl seem off but as you said, shade... Sweet

Nice details on the bird. The feet are great. Whole image feels a bit cold to me, so maybe warm it up just a touch. I know you were under shade so that's certainly part of it.

I like the repost but would suggest selecting the owl and adding a couple of points of blacks to the neutrals in selective coloring to give some pop to the owl.
He looks a bit washed out once you increased the exposure.
Excellent view of the feet and nice clean BG,
Gail

Ok, tried Gail's suggestion which I had to lookup to learn (what a PP newbie)... Better? Thanks as always for your help.

Very nice. Like the square crop. The bird looking into the negative space is nice as well. Low angle is another plus.
