I was looking for an improvement in AF, so I passed on the first update 1.1. Last week the second update (1.2) arrived with the smaller focus box for servo AF. The single point focus box was huge previously (must have had 10s or even 100s of those 5000+ focus pixel sites) . I thought this was strange and assumed the software had been rushed for launch. This release brought a smaller option and appears to have greatly reduced (but not eliminate completely) the frequency of the wonkiness where the AF fails but thinks it's in focus. That smaller focus point was right on this sentinel's eye. Looking forward to further improvements. With the advent of mirrorless competition, even old stodgy Canon is providing new features in firmware. The sony A9 (best AF for mirrorless) just received further improvements to it's already stellar AF.
