We experienced a long winter this season, and even this image was taken only two weeks ago when another round of (wet) snow fell and clung to everything. It made for neat "winter" images of spring returnees though!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/125s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, deepened the blacks via burn tool, tamed a blue cast of the plumage (the colour cast on the wings and tail is natural, but I could do a version with it gone as well), eye work.

Daniel, nice details and perch would like to see a bit more room on the bottom and left side.

Nice to see one on a snow covered branch. Like the pose and the vertical compsoition. Details look great.

I was prepared for just another RWBB, but you made the blacks look absolutely spectacular....
Excellent.

As always, the IQ is terrific. The exposure on the blacks is perfect.
The RWBB looks great with the snow.
As always, comp is such a personal issue but if mine, I would move it up in the frame a bit,

Exposure and details look great, but I would go 4x5 to give him more space on left and less above. Love the super conical bill!
