Fortunate encounter this afternoon...
Barred Owl
I removed an OOF branch at across the bottom tree trunk. sloppy job....

Well worth the work... Love the details and the pose. Even the interloper works for me (could be lunch if not careful). Perhaps a slight contrast boost would make the subject pop even more. TFS

I like the natural look sometimes a little natural untidiness looks effective. I too like the squirrel in the background. I haven't seen a barred owl, you have some good detail in the plumage.

Great look at the owl, the squirrel in the background is cool.

Nice shot! Even though the background is a little busy I think it’s out of focus enough that it’s not distracting but still interesting (the squirrel is a neat touch too). Only criticisms I have are the branch intersecting the bird and the noise on the bird. You probably could have gotten away with a slower shutter speed and lower ISO with a perched Barred.

Thanks Anthony.. Appreciate it.
This was evening in the woods and the Owl was flying around. It was actually chasing the squirrel behind him,
The Owl had just landed on this perch and gave me about 10 frames before it left.
I did want to go less than 1/500, better sharp than noisy for me.

I would be a happy camper if this was mine. Nice pose on the owl. Looks like his dinner is behind him.

Sweet image, eye contact makes it a winner. The squirrel in the background is a bonus!

The squirrel is fun, but I can't get past the trees behind, even with the beautiful eye contact. The shoot looks more opportunistic than deliberately sought and composed.

The twig in front of the old bugs me a lot more than the squirrel :)
