Nice Jon, nice low angle and nice exposure.

Nice low angle. The pose on both birds is nice as well. Details look pretty good.

Hi Jon, I know some will disagree, but I would have gone the extra and thought about f/11 or more as you had the ISO. Only because of the distance and the two Grebes also have some separation between them.

Control the darks and you will have more detail in there, especially on the LH Grebe. Water appear a bit warm in colour to me, this time of year its cooler, but... :S3: Not sure if it needs to be taken off the more 'central' POV, WDYT?

Thanks to everyone for your comments, here is a rework bearing in mind the suggestions

For me Jon it's somewhere between the two.

In the RP you have lost the lovely warmth in the original plumage, likewise the darks are not as rich in the neck and body plumage. The water looks to 'cyan', just my take. :w3

The right bird is fantastic, but the lack of focus on the left really hurts, particularly as the shot is all about the interaction. The left bird facing away isn't ideal either. But man, that right bird is sweet......

Yes, the right-hand bird is insane. I like the original post best ...
