I made this image at Provo Dike road, Near Utah lake State Park, Couple of weeks back

I could not do much with the steep angle, wish for bird to be much parallel to me.

I like the pose. Looking forward to the spring so that I can spend more time with these birds.

Nikon 600 f/4 + 1.4x TCIII
1/1600 sec; f/5.6; ISO 800
Manual; Matrix metering

Post processing:- Added Canvas behind the bird
Nik Filter
2 step Sharpening

Let me know your thoughts and comments.

Thanks
Krishna

Nice capture, you addressed the problems. I think you did well with the blacks. Better than I have with my Red Wings. With this I would maybe clone out the two branches really don't add to the image.

Like the calling pose. The flaired out tail is nice. Perch is pretty neat. Just started seeing these guys at my local.

Colors, exposure, and pose are lovely, but the upward shooting angle is tough. I might deepen the black just a touch and clone out the OOF sticks/twigs to strengthen what you have. Nice and sharp!

All has been addressed, wait there will be more and certainly at a better angle!

Ditto Kevin on losing the extra branches and ditto Dorian on blacker BLACKs. I do not mind the steppingstones angle as much as the others do. I think :)

with love, artie

I love that spread tail! Those extra twigs did not add anything to the image, glad they are gone. A bit steep, but still not too much.
