A nice place to land...

A grab shot in the backyard trying out the autofocus of a new camera.
The Bushtits flit through in swarms, landing on this Rhododendron bush.
The Landings are a split second, I am not in a hide, just standing in the yard.
A lot to grab the focus, the D500 works pretty well.
I was also just experimenting with a new camera, so I would have gone for
a much faster SS in the future.
I wish I had both eyes but they are really small..

A fortunate grab and a nice landing for Bushtit.

Hi Dan. Really nice, sharp with great FFD, HA and BG. My only suggestion would be to crop some of the RHS so as not to position the bird in the centre of the frame. Just wondering if a vertical crop would work to remove some of the green leaves and highlight the flower.

Hi Dan,
The bill and eyes do not appear sharp to me. Likely a combo of DOF and SS issue.
This image would be so much stronger if he had landed with his body parallel to the sensor.
I like the perch.
BG is ok and I would smooth out that yellowish vertical line to the left of the bird.

Sweet lil bird but this doesn't work bc of dof/ss... Also, would be great to have the bird looking straight at you...

Hi Dan...I wished the bird was sharper. I like the pose on the bird, and the perch is fab. It appears that the critical focus point was on the perch/lower part of the bird.
