Details held up well with the 2x, and the exposure is as good as is can get with the side lighting. The reds look oversaturated to me, particularly on the bill. But otherwise a nice engaging look!

Nice portrait of this coot. The red eye looks nice around all that black.

I agree about the bill being whiter..I used to practice my exposure on these birds, and always found it difficult to expose perfectly for the black bird with the white bill. It was easier to recover detail in the black feathers but not so for the white bill. A lot depended on the light of course.
