Took this in Iceland in 2017. I reprocessed it using my new PP programs.
Very small crop. Nothing added or cloned.
I like this image because 90% of the time, when the puffins are at full wing flap, the nictitating membrane is closed. Sooo. frustrating when that happens.
The BG is the ocean.
Canon 1 DX 600mm and 1.4 x
ISO 1000 F 7.1 SS 1/1600
PP cropped to 5 x 7, Usual sliders in LR and used my new luminosity masking skills on the whites
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail

Love that eye and details in both black and whites. The pose and under wing view put it over the top for me. TFS

Lots of lovely detail and the whites look perfect. The wing flapping pose gives the image another lift and makes it different from the usual puffin image.

What a wonderful capture! Lovely soft light, great blue BG and superb details in b&w. I also think the crop works well!

Hi Gail...Love that pose and good control of the blacks and whites. A pretty looking Puffin image...It's similar to one I posted some time back, same pose, and yes the same as you, the nicticating membrane on most were closed, but I managed one. :S3: Well done.

Very nice pose and you have a nice 3d look to this..I think the whites on the head are almost too toned down and look a bit flat.

A real beauty Gail. Bird and pose and image quality are great. Only thing I would change would be to clone out the poop on the rock on the bottom left.

This is so good Gail! The softly filtered light was your best friend for this high contrast bird. Good to close down to 7.1 to get a bit more DOF. Detail throughout are great, especially the feet!

Just about faultless for me Gail, perfect flap shows off those stubby little wings and you got the perspective just right, making sure you were not too low that you interfered with seeing the feet. Details look perfect to my eye
