Looks like the pecker needs its own pecker! I'm a bit ambivalent about this one Jon, lovely background but the bird scratching is a bit of an awkward pose. I think I would prefer a better look at the bird, maybe pulling something out of the animal's back.

Couldn't figure out what that was then realized it is the birds foot. Like the perch and the pose.

Hi Jon, like the natural perch and colours look bang on. I quite like the slightly blurred leg as it indicates a 'scratching' motion. Good detail and the eye of this subject is always really cool, but I'm not a fan of their characteristic of keeping a wound open to drink from. Perhaps end the LHS crop on the edge of the mane?

This one does not work well for me. The subject is quite centered and the pose is awkward though the behavior is interesting.
