One from my usual perch in my hometown. Sitting in amongst the rocks at low tide. There was a strong wind blowing, the sea was stormy, uncomfortable conditions, but makes for something different to photograph.

Beautiful capture, William. I like the rough sea and that you caught him in the low part of the swell. Like the drops of water on his back as well. Head turned just enough to get a nice catchlight in the eye. Well done.

How lucky you are to be able to spend time with these Eider. I recently got my first good photos of this species but not an adult male like this cracking bird. I like the eye contact and the water droplets. The head does not look tack sharp to me and the blacks on the crown look a bit dark.

Lovely bird nicely captured. I think you could dodge a bit more out of the blacks as they don't seem blocked.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. With regards to the black crown. I could have lightened this up a wee bit, as they are not blocked, but the crown is naturally black. Very black. These are the colours on the bird, as I seen it during time of capture. I realise that lightening it up, would show more detail though.

It's a good shot Will, I would adjust the contrast and or the shadows and blacks, from my point of view the mid tones are a tiny bit dull and the shadows too dark.

Thanks for that Jon. I'll have another look at the blacks. Much appreciated.
