I was fortunate enough to witness the emergence of this dragonfly in my back garden, hope you find it of interest. The light was variable and so I used a reflector as best I could.
All taken using a Tripod a few inches above water level, Canon 5D IV and Canon 100-400mm @400mm varying around ISO 200-400 f11 f13

Wow Jon - this is amazing! You are the Macro King:cheers:

Do you have a pond in your garden? This Southern Hawker looks very much like our Dragonflies here, they usually hover around my little pond. Never seen one "emerge" as such, I truly appreciate this sequence.

BTW timing is great and nice DoF, well processed too, lovely colours! Very happy to see you post here, hope you have some more in your folders? I once captured a fish eating spider with prey, don't have a sequence as such but I would like to share it with you when I find it ( very old image will have to look through some old hard drives).

Really appreciate this - wonderful sequence, thank you so much for sharing:5

Warmest regards,

Hi Jon,
Very nice sequence! Love the emergence as you have captured it - a very interesting process to me. I hope to capture a series like this one day myself but so far nada - maybe I need a small pool in my yard.
Well done.
