Great blue heron

This bird was at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge one cold January morning and allowed a very close approach. So I was able to pick an angle with good light and a decent BG; the bird never moved. Ooops, I forgot to add shooting information: Canon 7DII, Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II at 400 mm; ISO 400, 1/4000, f/5.6.

To my eye the image looks oversharpened, and the whites look blown. The pose and composition are good, and I like the background.

Nice composition and nice light. Agree about the sharpening.

Thanks, Walker. I don't think it was sharpened much at all, but I agree that the whites look bleached.
