Shot years back when leading a BIRD PHOTO TOUR here in the foot hill forest of Darjeeling Himalaya, this is a shy forest predator mostly seen at canopy and usually perches top ,was lucky enough to get him close and at eye level when he was engaged searching some pray at low level of forest.

Canon 7D,700mm,f7,1/500s,ISO 1000.

Thanks for looking,comments welcome.

What a beautiful bird, and well captured. Excellent head turn and like the crest feathers. Nice soft light as well, and a lovely BG.

Neat looking bird here. Love the green background and the over the shoulder pose on the bird.

Great look-back pose, sweet background, killer bird, nice crest, and nice image design.

The whole thing looks too dark to me; what are you seeing please?

What does this bird prey upon Debapratim?

Love these birds. I witnessed a large migration of them in Thailand where we saw hundreds of the circling overhead. Great birds. Your pose, background and head angle are all really nice here. I agree with Artie that I would up the exposure a little. Also there is more blue in the blacks of the back then I remember seeing on these birds. Is that a function of the low light and just a small cast on the bird or are some of them blue like this?

Thanks Isaac,I have increased the brightness a bit and may be when I tried to reduce the back lit effect a blue cast appeared...Its really difficult to handle forest light which traverse through leaves,I have tried to correct it in pp but do not know how to upload the image again!.........when I see images against dark box in my monitor it works well.

Beautiful bird and composition, Debapratim. Detail looks decent for 7D and ISO 1000. I might move him up in the frame just a touch. Color doesn't bother me, but I've never seen this species.

Beautiful bird and a beautiful scene. Love the look-back stare and the nice details in the blacks. The perch and BG look great too. I like your last repost. Well done
