This is a shot I've been lusting over for a while, and I had to get really, really, really dirty to get it! These guys are leaving SF Bay right now to head to the Arctic,
so I was stoked to get this little guy before he disappeared for the summer.

One of the comments I seem to keep getting is "a bit more sharpening", so I've applied more here. Hopefully I haven't gone too far.

Canon 500mm f/4 IS v1 + 1.4x III on EOS 5D Mark IV
1/3200 at f/5.6, ISO 640, handheld in mud
Processed in Lightroom with standard sliders.

Cheers!

Sweet Dorian. I also really want this shot. Great pose and details look great. I would take some off the bottom and add it to the top.

Dorian I too would have been delighted to get an image like this! The colours are just gorgeous you have a great pose and the details are excellent. One foot raised and all at a low level - an excellent shot congratulations.

Cool capture Dorian, and as Jon mentioned, the raised foot just elevates the image.

Dorian - the plumage is striking..well worth the wait. I appreciate your willingness to get muddy for this shot. It looks sharp to me...honestly though I don't know how to tell if an image has been over sharpened.

Dorian, excellent shot, nice colors, angle and BG. The foot up adds a bit.

Love the raised foot. Great low angle. The breeding plumage is very nice. Looks like it was worth the dirt.
