The sun had just risen when I visited the University of Pretoria this morning, and for a short period of time, I was treated to some incredible light. ( it clouded over a little later. ) I noticed a few Egyptian Geese casually floating by and decide to take a few shots for fun. Normally noisy characters, but maybe it was still too early for them.I realise the reflection is not ideal, but I have left it as shot,

Gorgeous light on this one Stu. For some reason the two large circular shapes on the left edge grab my eye to the degree that I'd edit them out, but obvious that's a person thing as some keep pretty much everything as it was. While not glassy smooth I wasn't bothered by the reflection at all. Nice one. Thanks for sharing.

I saw one or two of these Stu whilst visiting!. Lovely clean image, the fine droplets on the back show well. I like the band of light going along the bird. Maybe just maybe consider lifting the deepest shadow a tad?

It's hard to beat early or late light, Stu and this one shows that off very nicely. I like the lack of warmth in the water contrasting against the very warm tones on the bird. From memory, these are a warm colour anyway and they look even more dramatic in this light. Beautiful detail and nice reflections and shapes on the water.

Hi Stu - The gorgeous warm light made even the thumbnail jump out. I have definitely heard these guys chattering on so I am sure the quiet was a surprise. The warm colors work very nicely here. Glad you had a chance to get out this morning. Enjoy the holiday and long weekend.

TFS,
Rachel

Sweet sweet light here. Pretty neat looking duck. I don't mind the reflection.

Great light, yielding amazing color on the birds. And I love the patterns in the water too.

I like the large feather looking like a comb touching the water. Great light of course. To my eye the image looks like it may need a bit of CW rotation? The reflection does not bother me either.
