Hi all,

A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker taken at my feeder set up back in December in PA. It was pretty overcast after it had stopped snowing but enough light to get a faster shutter speed. First time seeing this bird which was pretty cool.

Camera: Nikon D500
Lens: 200-500mm f/5.6 at 500mm
Specs: 1/2000 ISO 1600 f/7.1

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

Lovely moment of capture with the berry in bill on the way down the hatch, Alex. Nice fit to the theme also. Nice feather detail across the bird and pleasing tonal range (although I don't know what they look like in real life, like so many other birds I see on BPN). The only minus for me are the oof berries in front of the bird but it is what it is. A few bits of snow on the berries is a nice extra.

Hi Alex, cool upside pose, and well timed with the feeding behaviour to capture him with a berry in his beak. The high key makes everything pop.

Love the colors throughout this image. Nice timing with the feeding as well. I had a juvenile visiting my feeder setup regularly in early winter.

Nice high key shot with vivid color and a great hanging pose. Love the berry in the beak.

Lovely and unusual scene for this species, very cool. I like the setting a lot. I do feel the darks are a touch too dark (fill-flash would have been good). Artistically I would get rid of the two cut berries above, or if cropped add back enough to include them fully plus a bit of space. I like that we have a great view of the "yellow belly", which is not often obvious.

Daniel echoes my feelings about this image perfectly.
Really nice to see the yellow belly. Berry in mouth is really cool. I only ever see images of them on a tree.
