Good shooting angle, pose, drop off foot, breeding colors.

I might sharpen the face just a bit more, consider removing the odd gray smear along the bottom of the frame, and move the bird just a bit more towards the left side of the frame, if you have the canvas.

Hi Jay, I like your low shooting angle, and well timed to capture the raised foot. Another vote for moving the Avocet back to the left a touch more.

Hey Jay, beautiful bird, nicely shown. I agree with the previous comments, the bird is just a tad too centered. Thank you for sharing.

Nice to see the American version of this species, Jay. Your processing looks great to my eye with excellent detail, texture and tonal range. The bird pops nicely against the neutral water. I can see the point about having the bird a little more to the left but feel it works fine as presented too. So I can't see any faults here - thanks for sharing.
