Hi all. Here's a Hoverfly I photographed hand-held recently. Canon 7Dii, Canon 100mm macro lens, f8, 1/1000sec, iso2000. Prime noise reduction in DXO, basic adjustments in ACR followed by resize, sharpen and exporting from Photoshop. Cheers.

This head-on view of the fly is very cool, Paul! I like the sharpness around the head, the wing position, and the off-center comp. Very nice capture of a difficult subject!

Thanks John and Steve. Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, I took quite a number of shots...this one was the best. Luckily the Hoverfly kept relatively still as it hovered near the hanging basket of flowers.
