This species has eluded me for years it seems. Always on the move and traveling quickly up high tree trunks. This winter an individual came to my yard to eat bark butter off one of my trees. Here is the best shot in the one opportunity I had. I cloned out a small amount of bark butter on the tree trunk.

bird looks pretty nice wish for a bit softer light (a bit contrasty) tree bears can use some NR. sharp

Agreed with Arash's comment.
I would keep (or add) a little more room below.

It's exciting getting a good, clear, clean, sharp image of one of these guys! You did that here, I only feel that the subject is a tad large in the frame.

Good detail on the bird. The composition works well here.

Congrats Allen:

Always fun to capture an image that has eluded you for so long.

Agree about a bit tight in the frame.

He makes me want to tilt my head to get him plumb.

Cheers

My first thought was that the bird is too large in the frame. Do you have more room?
By pulling back a bit , the OOF tree may not seem so imposing.
Bird and BG look great,

Hi Allen, good plumage detail on the bird, well exposed on the whites, and nicely posed against the clean BG.
