This image was taken today at Oquirrh lake, UT

This is man made lake and it is best to photograph during sunset, but I decided to head out in the morning as it was completely cloudy with slight snow.

Also I wanted to test out my new Nikon D850 camera.

With light really low, I had to raise the ISO and took few images.

I was pleasantly happy with the image quality even though I shot it at high ISO.

45 Mega Pixels was really handy to crop the image for composition.

Hi Krishna, Coots are difficult characters to expose, but you have succeeded well enough here, and you have even shown up some iridescence on the back. Even though the Coot is placed in the left hand third of the frame, I would maybe add a bit to the left.

Krishna:

Agree with Stu about the crop, too close to the left edge. Just a sliver more room there would be nice.

Good detail retained despite the ISO. The soft light helped with your exposure, because coots are about as bad as loons for dynamic range challenges, esp. that bill.

Will look forward to more of your D850 images.

Cheers

Good job with the bill, easy to blow but you got it right. Nice feather detail. I get the feeling there is too much NR on the reflection?
