Although common, this is not a species we see images posted of anywhere too much. This one was coming in for a landing right after a few mallards.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, small crop after rotation.

Nice to see the species, not in my area...
I think you could lower the exposure a tad for a richer look.

Hi Dan, I like the incoming pose with the swept back wings, and well exposed on the darker plumage of the body. Those orange legs/feet pop nicely against the lighter BG. Well captured.

Dan:

Well exposed, dynamic pose, great feet.

Black ducks are pretty uncommon locally for me. Might see one or two on rare occ., but not often.

Cheers

Great shot. Sharp with good feather detail and perfect incoming pose. The reason you don't see many images posted is that they are smart and wary. I see them everyday but going in the other direction.

Very nice Dan. Perfect incoming pose and with the angel wings to boot!
IQ and POV excellent. Nice look at the eye.
