This handsome fellow was captured this am at the local bird sanctuary. Finally warmed up enough that the birds were moving. I liked the browns of the winter trees as the background .

D500 Sigma 150-600 sport, f/6.3 440 mm, 1/640 s ISO 1250

Post: Crop for comp, cleaned up the pupil.

Advice and comments always appreciated.

All colours up.I Like those extras at the tail end.Lovely soft background.

Very nice Randy. These are beautiful ducks that don't get a lot of attention. I like the way he looks "smiling", I'd prefer that the back wing don't intersect the head, but very nice frame indeed. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Randy, I like the angled flight pose towards us, and this shows up all the Mallards colours. Gotta love those curled feathers on the tail. That's a sweet BG too. Well captured.

I photographed some of these today...great minds think alike!! I love small details such as the crossed primaries of the near wing. I do wish you had more direct sunlight on the face and the speculum, but the image works well anyhow.
