I've seen this guy on three different occasions on the same exact perch. Today was my first day with my new tripod setup and oddly enough he let me get closer with the tripod then he did on the other days when I was just shooting handheld. He probably felt bad for me because I probably looked like I was struggling. Well regardless I'm glad he didn't fly away today because he was having a good hair day.

Looking back I could have used a much lower iso.

Nice 'do. I agree ISO 1600 is much higher than necessary. Even 400 would have given you plenty of shutter speed on a tripod. I like the colours on the piling as well. Maybe a slight crop in would improve the image, but overall very nice.

Really like the wind swept heron. The bird looks soft tough.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention this is cropped quite a bit maybe like 30-50%. Hopefully I get another chance to photograph this guy's epic hair.

I guess you could have used a lower ISO, but keeping it higher like this had you ready for action should the heron had taken off.

I like the windy look of the image. Not crazy about the perch, but at least it has some good moss growth and colours on it.
