From a few days ago on Staten Island. The bird was preening and getting ready to take off and hunt. I watched it for about 2 hours and it basically sat there most of the time with its eyes closed. This was about the only time that it actually looked at me the whole time. As the sun got lower the bird perked up a bit. Walked a few steps and preened. Luckily it was dead low tide so I could stand at the waters edge and leave enough distance between me and the bird that it was not bothered by my presence at all. It was also nice as the waters edge was much lower so I could stand and be at eye level with the bird. This was a few minutes before sundown and the light was just perfect. Happy holidays to all of you. I really appreciate all of the help I have gotten here over the last few years.

Beautiful light, great POV, and I love the somewhat off-center look he's giving you. I hope you are also having the happiest of holidays.

Wonderful capture, Isaac. Love the setting sunlight and that shifted to the side head position.

Happy holidays to you.

That light is so lush!! I love the curious glance it is giving you. Great low angle. I personally could do without the log at right, but nothing you could have done there, and it does not take away from the superb subject. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well!

Thanks all. Dan you know what is funny. I have many shots of this bird in this light. I chose this one because I like the log. I feel like there are so many shots of snowy owls just sitting on the beach or in the dunes. I liked the log as I felt it added a little touch of something else. Of course I understand not wanting it there as well.
