I think you have used the dof extremely well here......getting front edge to center sharp.
Excellent color in that overcast light.....colors are at their truest when it is overcast

Ed I love this image as presented. The colours just pop and the DOF is great.

Hmmm, fog in Maine? How strange! ;)

Dave, Stephen, Robert,

Thanks for the critiques. I was very pleased with this image. And I was particularly happy with the background. In provate gardens like this, they tend to frown :( on photographers landscaping the backgrounds so I had to deal with what was there. Shooting at f/3.5 certainly helped. I have several other flowers from Thuya that I like a lot but the backgrounds are a little busier. Oh well. Glad you like this one.

A superb capture Ed - a lovely flower beautifully portrayed. The overcast conditions has produced the ideal diffused light for you. Well done!!

It's a keeper, that's for sure. It IS a dahlia, BTW...and a beautiful one at that. Those colors really dance!

Hey Ed, you've done a great job with these flower heads but I would like to see you try some these in verticals and add some stems. Well done.
