I dont have many Owl images in my files, so I was pretty pleased to have seen and captured this little fellow in late afternoon light. I only spotted him at the last moment, and as we were in an open vehicle, he didnt seem too fussed that we were around. I managed quite a few shots before he decided to fly away. Taken on a private reserve close to the Botswana border. Not the best perch, but we have to take what is presented to us.

Hi Stu, glad you got round to posting this one, nice look back and warm colours. It also gave me the prod to look back at this years owls too, cheers.

I don't mind the man made perch, however I wonder if the wire or post should be slightly rotated CCW, WDYT?

Stu a lovely clear image of this young owl probably a bit centrally placed for me I prefer to avoid this type of perch but sometimes it is all one has, love that stare

Stu, that stare really makes this. The light is gorgeous too but perch not ideal as noted. Detail and colour are wonderful. I wonder if the bird would benefit from a bit more localised contrast especially over the wings and crown? A really lovely frame all the same and thanks for sharing it.

Stu sometimes we have to take what we can get, maybe a vertical crop if you have the room...

Hi Stu. Love that light. Fab look back pose and those eyes... Like the BG and I don't mind the perch. I would take some of the RHS and a wee bit off top. :S3:
