Took this shot today, it's a very rare bird in my area. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Love the pose you captured here Nickolas. The bird appears to be lacking fine detail, was it a big crop. I like the BG, but not sure of the various colours on the RHS, I think the image would look better without them, and have the BG the same brown tones throughout. It would also look better, with a natural perch, other than a man made. Thanks for sharing, as I have never seen this bird before.

Nice fall bay breast. You got a perfect head turn and look at the side/back of the bird. I agree with William that the bird is a bit soft. Fine feather details are lacking. Also agree about the perch. You never told us what camera and lens were used, nor anything about the post work that you did for us to make suggestions.

I was using a 7d II and a 500mm f4 is version 1 and a 1.4x II, I also noticed some of the details are soft, looking at the back of the camera I might have missed focus slightly. I used topaz to denoise the background and nik detail extractor on the bird. 171921

Your shutter speed was likely too slow as well. Focus looks like it was just behind the bird. Might not have gotten enough of the bird.
