Nice perch. Nice bird. Nicely designed image. SH and EXP good. A very nice image. Perhaps raising the lens up just a bit to include a bit more perch would have resulted in a bit better compositional balance.
with love, artie
ps: did they name a woodpecker after you?
pps: any relationship to the ornithologist?

The perch ........ I cloned the branch behind the bird ... I know that it was there ...... so I always think that there is something missing when I look at the shot
relationships - no luck in that regard - I realise that there is a (Californian/New Mexico?) Woodpecker bearing the name
We live in rural France - the common House Sparrow is a rare sight ....... maybe only see a handful every year near the house

Lovely capture Bill. Exceptional soft light and fine feather detail. Beautiful background also. I'm very partial to these, quite common here in NJ, House Sparrows. As long I've lived in my house there have been at least two resident families.

I love the raised feathers on the back. Good parallel pose against a beautiful BG. I like the perch too, and I am sure Artie meant pointing your lens down (not up).
