Taken mid afternoon in Botswana, a young male within the group just gazing into the distance. Tri-toned just to bring some colour in, but avoiding the 'sepia' tone!!!

Thanks to those who viewed or commented on the previous image.

Steve, what can I say to someone who has such skill and visual intelligence? While I'm sure it would be possible to make minor personal and subjective suggestions about composition, tones and colours in this, it works beautifully as presented. I love your subtle handling of tones and the DOF and detail are excellent. The 'regal' post tops it off. Wonderful.

Looks like this lion is about to fall asleep. The composition is nice here.

Love the details and tones but I find the eye a little "confusing".
I wonder if that is a tick on the neck or just a piece of leaf.

Hi Steve - Nice profile with good detail. Love the wet nose. Conversion works with nice creamy bokeh. Curious how close you were because with a profile shot I would have thought a more open aperture would have been sufficient for dof and then you could have dropped the ISO while still maintaining ss.

Hi Steve a lovely side profile of that Lion ...stunning IQ ....better than mine :bg3:.
Totally different style in terms of tonality and overall contrast , does look kinda dreamy ....So the relatively low contrast fits well to the overall look&feel .You have still great form in the subject !!!!
Not sure personally about the toning .....but this is for sure a very subjective thing , so please do not take it too serious .

I have two wishes ....that the eye would have been a bit more open ( nothing you can do about that ) , and that there is a bit more tonal separation between subject and BG ....chin and the area under the nose might be tricky :w3.

Lovely work , Sir !

Well this was the colour version, tonally the two are quite close so separation would be hard hard without some masking layers and adjustments. Best to change the Picture mode to B/W you can then see if things are working or it lends itself to B/W as the capture can be changed to colour in PP.

Hi Steve -- As always a top class image with all the details . In this case the conversion really works well with that slight warm tint to it . The clean BG really helps in here to make this a lovely image . Tfs !

Dear Steve,
Love the conversion here. A classy image beautifully composed and presented. Great techs. Superb detail. Lovely meditative expression and nice regal pose from this subadult male. Glenn took the words from my mouth:cheers:

Jon, the leaf-looking thingie is in fact a little bug:)

Warmest regards,
