Sometimes at the local photography spots near Montreal, people will say that someone has sent a few "union birds" over, the ones that are super tame and pose for you as if they were under contract. Today...was not one of those days, but this lesser yellowlegs didn't mind the company. Wish I had a better background but I was already sitting in the river (in waders) with the tripod as low as I could get it without risking inadvertent underwater shots, and the sun was in and out all afternoon.

It's fun encountering a tame shorebird. Nice image here, nice blues in the water. Good sleeping pose, low angle, comp.

I like the pose and colors on this one. Always nice when a bird is comfortable with our presence and allows close approach. I feel like I have been going against people many times lately but to me the crop is too tight. I would prefer more room for some virtual legs. I also think the image quality is not 100% and this would perhaps gain from a bit more sharpening. Also think the image is a tiny bit flat. Would deepen the mid tones a little to bring out a little more depth.

Jake, a nice pose here and I don't mind the background at all. When I first looked at this, I though it looked a touch soft but I'm not so sure now. What's the raw like? I'm also unsure about the composition here - mainly a bit more room on the left and less on the right. A bit more below, as mentioned by Isaac, might also be worth a try. Otherwise, I like the colours, tones and lighting here. Thanks for sharing.
