Not entirely happy with the green highlights in the background, did try removing them but I felt that it then looked a little unreal. So nothing done exept crop and sharpen.
Head angle could have been a bit better.

Hi Lance I see what you mean with the highlights in the bg One suggestion is to lower the saturation and they will look fine with no attention grabbing !!

I like how well this image converted from raw with minimal work With good light you can reproduce light/darks as shown here with lots of detail and the entire image just says quality !!! Excellent !!!

I wonder if a bit more room on the left would be better. I like the fact that even though some part of the bird is black and part of the background is also dark, the bird still largely stands out from the background. I think you picked the right lighting condition and angle to photograph this bird, Lance.

Agree with Desmond regarding more room to the left. Great details though.

Hey Lance, The head angle is not bad. Is this a free and wild bird???

Hi Arthur - Yes free and Wild - although somewhat desenitised to people. The shot was taken in a Botanical Gardens - birds are in no way restricted and come and go as they please. I wouldn't say they are tame as such but you can certainly get fairly close to them without spooking them.

Hi Arthur - I always seek out Botanical gardens on all my travels - they always offer some good opportunities.
