A pair of Red-rumped Parrots with the male feeding the female as a bonding activity technically a form of Allofeeding. They had been feeding on fruit of the low bush. The male has a red patch on the rump only seen from behind so not a great viewpoint.
1DXII 400mm F/2.8L II & 2XIII 800mm 1/1250 f9 iso1600 hand held. Slight crop and sharpen and some highlights and noise removed from the background.

The image is a little too bright for my taste. Otherwise, it is a great study in behaviour, well caught.
May I ask what your thoughts were behind buying a 400/2.8 rather than a longer lens? Cheers mate

G'day Akos, long time no hear! Yes it could be a bit bright, but easily fixed. After a serious bit of thought I decided on flexibility and the 400/2.8 is sooo sharp, and the combo was less costly than the 800 prime

I've toned it down a bit.

Yes, the repost is better. I would have opened up the aperture more though - this would have helped smooth out the BG as it has a few harder edged lines. Neat behaviour. Good colours too, quite the plumage on this species!

Yes, the repost is definitely better. I think the background is fine and not sure it would have been helped a lot by a wider aperture. The foreground is a bigger issue and could have been softer if a wider aperture was used. I have taken a lot of this species in recent times - lovely birds for sure.
