I found a small Yellow Jacket wasp nest on an extension ladder that I have stored in my barn. I decided to see how close they would let me get to them. This is the last frame that I was able to get before one of the came to chat with me :D Distance was around 12" from the friendly one at the top of the frame.

<edit>I figured out what I was doing wrong :)

* Exposure Bias (EV) = 0/1 = 0
* Max Aperture = F3.51
* Metering Mode = spot (3)
* Flash = Flash fired, compulsory flash mode
* Focal Length = 180/1 mm = 180 mm

Hey Michael. I like it, the main guy stands out really well and the rest of the image has a nice soft look. Like the red BG.

It's beautiful but scary! You're a braver soul than I am. Love the play of color in this one and the composition is wonderful!

Thanks everyone. I would like to try to get one more with more DOF. I don't know if I can make myself go there again...

Julie- I'm not sure if "braver soul" is what most people would call it :D
