Two Japanese beetles hanging out on a plant in the garden after some rain. Camera on sticks triggered with remote.

Lovely exposure and colours, well focused. DOF is a limited but I guess they would not orientate themselves more favourably for you. With shots like this, if all was still (I noticed slow SS) I would try stacking, maybe it was not practicable.

Good exposure, comp, and background. On the other hand, the DOF is too shallow for my taste - it would help if at least the male beetle's head was within the DOF. There are several potential ways to achieve this (assuming that you have cooperative subjects) - move slightly to your right such that the DOF covers more of both beetles - move a few inches further from your subjects (which will increase DOF) and crop more in post - increase f/stop to f/11 or f/16 (with associated changes in ISO and SS - or use a diffused flash - a whole other subject). :S3:
