Here's another Oystercatcher from Sandy Hook last month. I sat down on the beach and waited, and this guy walked right up to me and began a massive shake, producing a number of funny feather positions. I had to add canvas right and top. He then walked even closer to me, more than filling the frame and posing for some tight head portraits. This was taken at 7:00 am; the sun had gotten fairly bright, but not yet too harsh, IMO.

You got real close here Bill, and it shows on the lovely detail you captured. I like the exposure, with great detail on both blacks/whites. Nice pose, POV and HA. In my part of the world, they fly quickly, as soon as they see movement. Well done.

Really nice one Bill and you got a nice portion of the beach too. HA details and exposure all look nice. I might be tempted to clone out the red highlight behind the bird below the beak. TFS

Someones been taking note of Arties 'sun angle' comments!

The fluffed up pose adds a nice extra dimension to the shot, nice timing

Thanks Mike. I think it was the Oystercatcher that has been reading Artie's blog. I was stationary, and he walked right up to me on almost perfect sun angle.

This was a great Oystercatcher morning, especially with all the flybys and having them walk so close to us. Love the feathers puffed up from the shaking, and nice sharp detail.
