This is the moth of the Mopani worm [Mopani = indigenous tree in Africa.] the worm when fully grown is squeezed, and dried and is quite a delicacy amongst indigenous people in Africa, they are eaten like peanuts.

Loukie you forgot to mention the size of these things, they are really big! I have never seen the moth, just the grubs.

The scan isnt the best, it is noisy and needs to be cleaned up. The image itslelf isnt too bad but the poor scan is really a problem. Also the crop is too tight for me.

Superb detail and lighting Loukie!! The composition, however, is a little tight for me. A lot of noise in BG.
Have you any tech details on this one?

What resolution are you scanning at and which film was used? That could account for the grain.
Would like to see more of the head and less of the underside on this one.
