Photographed while being on James Shadle's boat in March. It is full frame and I needed to add some canvas. I like the pose and don't mind that there is no clear wing/head separation.

Well F/8 got the job done nicely on this image! The pink pops nicely against that blue BG... No nits.

I'm OK with the head/wing position too only because the bright top of the head is seperated the darker area of the underwing. If the top of the head was touching the brighter part instead it would not have been as succesful a result. Nice colours and composition :-)

Very nice timing Axel and very pleasing composition. Good color and detail as well. as nice eye contact.

Hi Axel!

Very nice full frame and I like the composition and the pink/blue combination. Really nice underwing detail. On my screen I would tend to try a little more contrast on the bill and top part of the head. Nice eye contact and head angle.

Nice image Axel. It looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to Florida next spring. I've never seen one of these birds.

It's been the first time for me, too. Definitely worth the trip, you could contact James Shadle who organizes boat tours in this area. There were also oystercatchers, pelicans, ibis, etc.

Excellent comments above and an excellent image made in less than ideal light.
