This fella did not take my setup perch, but it did land on this acceptable one from a small tree not too far away. These guys, although not "rare", are rather uncommon in our area, so it was a pleasure adding this species to my files!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small cop for comp, a couple of small stray twigs removed from right edge of the frame. Audio used.

Daniel, nice shot, sharp, nice HA, BG and colors. Looks very similar to our Spotted Towhee.

Congratulations on the lifer, Daniel. Aren't these great looking birds. We have plenty down here in central NJ and they are quite comfortable around people, at least in my experience. Very nicely captured in what looks to be mildly defused bright light. Like the perch and that great BG.

Well that's a real eye-catching image Daniel, literally. That eye is awesome and I really like the colors and details. Nice perch and background to go with it too. Congrats on the lifer

Congratulations Daniel. Good pose and great eye. Their calls are constant in our summer woods. I'll trade you a few of these for a Snowy Owl.

We have the western version which is found on the ground a lot, making shots like this rare, well done
