Hi all,

This osprey shot was captured in Florida right after sunrise. I'm not usually keen on overhead shots (or clipped wings) but I thought this was kinda a fun frame showing an osprey's stare. In post, I did some light noise reduction on the bird and background, sharpened, and brought down some of the side light highlights as well as cropping to make the clipped wings symmetrical. The shadow on the bird's right eye is unfortunate in my opinion but is what it is I guess.

Camera: Nikon D500
Lens: 200-500mm f/5.6 at 500mm
Specs: 1/1600 ISO 1400 f/5.6

Thanks for looking!
Alex

I suppose more frontal lighting would have been best for that shaded eye (and most of the body), but I like the in-your-face crop. The sunlit eye is perfect!

it's always a challenge with clipped wings, maybe a pano crop would work better here. side light was unfortunate and the image is a bit soft to my eye

Hi Daniel and Arash, thanks for the comments. I'll play around with a pano crop and more sharpening. Thanks for looking!
