By the time i was able to get close enough the sun was getting a little to high so the light isn't ideal. This is the best could do before the sun got any higher.

1/1600 , f7.1
iso 640
converted with DPP and then in PS. Neat noise reduction on the background , reduced saturation on the red shoulders and raised shadows a bit on the bird to try and get a little more detail in the dark feathers.

It's a great display pose, on a lovely perch and with nice bg. Yes, the light wasn't ideal. I wonder if lowering the contrast a bit would help?

Very nice capture. That BG shows the bird real well and I like the perch. Blacks look good, as Bill said about the contrast.

Agree with Bill re the the contrast,very nice calling pose with the outstretched wings and tail ,I like the pure simplicity on this shot ,very nice.
