Another from the reptile house at the Ft. Worth Zoo a while back... Albino Western Diamondback. Not as "Pretty" IMO as the McGregor's as he's a little beat up, but I feel I got better focus on this one. Just wish I'd stopped it down a bit from f2.8.

30D & 100 f2.8 Macro, ISO 640, f2.8 @ 1/40... Hand held, through the glass.

Comments always welcome.... Thank you for looking!

Great head shot Steve!! Yes a smaller aperature would have been an advantage here to put the entire head into sharp focus. I assume that this is not the normal configuration of the snake's nose

Thanks John!

If your refering to the scars along his "lips" no... I'm thinking he maybe spends more time than normal brushing up against the enclosure. There is the nostril, then there is the "Pit" for which pit vipers get their name just below and between the nostril and the eye. It is a heat sensing organ that helps them "See" in the IR spectrum and find thier prey.

Hi Steve, looks like he is sizing you up!

I would crop out the OOF blob on the right, Looks good but I would run curves and USM to try to eliminate the haze from the glass.

LOL Ok. I can say this isn't a beautiful snake. hahaha

Your capture on this is great. But as you have said a smaller aperature would have been so benificial here. But it's still a great capture.

Yep agree Steve,
Nicer with blob gone.....it now puts the eye in the ROT position which in this case strenghtens the comp. Nicely done through glass!
